Worship Resources
Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation is pleased to offer creative, prepared worship services for clergy and other congregational leaders. These resources can be adapted as-needed to fit your ministry context. If you have trouble downloading or accessing the materials, please reach out to us at communications@opsf-omaha.org. We hope these resources enhance your worship experience and lighten your worship planning workload!
Bright Sunday
The Sunday after Easter is also known as Bright Sunday. Early church theologians like Augustine, Gregory of Nyssa, and John of Chrysostom reflected on the idea that through the resurrection, God played the ultimate joke on the devil. Bright Sunday serves as a day of joy and laughter, with parties and to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. If you’re looking for a little help to keep up the jubilant, resurrection energy, we offer our Bright Sunday service.
Creation Care Service
If you are planning a worship service focused on creation care, we invite you to use this resource which was a gift from a previous CAMP retreat. We are grateful to the Rev. Karl Heimbuck, Pastor of First Presbyterian Church, Sheridan, Wyoming, for the creation of this service. This is a “sermon-free” service and is easily accessible for lay leaders. It is focused around “The Peace of Wild Things” by Wendell Berry and you can access the poem in the resource.
Deeper in Faith: A Journey of Spiritual Formation
OPSF’s Synergos ministry is pleased to offer a new, fully-prepared, seven-week worship series, “Deeper in Faith: A Journey of Spiritual Formation.” Deeper in Faith invites congregations into a rich, accessible exploration of how faith grows over a lifetime. Each week has a theme, and worship is fully scripted. Weekly resources also include: a ritual action, journal pages to dive deeper into the theme, hymn suggestions, children’s messages, worship slides, and more.
The 12 Days of Christmas: Sunday After Christmas
If you are seeking to lighten your worship planning following Advent, but still want to joyfully and creatively engage in worship in the Christmas season, OPSF’s fully-prepared, no-sermon service can easily be plugged in on Christmas Day or the first Sunday after Christmas. Many of the worship parts are scripted so this service is easy to hand off to congregational leaders. This service was originally offered in December 2022, so be prepared to do a little date editing.
