The Certificate in Proclamation program empowers congregational leaders in the art of preaching. The Certificate in Proclamation consists of four courses: Old Testament, New Testament, Reformed Theology, and Preaching. The Certificate may count towards requirements for Commissioned Lay Pastor/Commissioned Ruling Elder training. Please check with your adjudicatory body for specific program requirements.
Pastoral Leadership Revitalization (PLR) is a 3-year program for pastoral leaders (Ministers of Word & Sacrament or Commissioned Ruling Elders) serving congregations in OPSF’s 13- state region. PLR provides pastors and their congregations with continuing education and networks of peer and professional support. PLR offers retreats, one-on-one coaching or spiritual direction, and peer-to-peer learning cohorts.
The Synergos Pastoral Residency equips and supports mid-career pastors and key congregational leaders to foster relevant and life-giving ministries for their congregations. Synergos focuses on in faith formation, leadership development, coaching, and community for the pastor and lay leader participants.
Throughout the year, OPSF offers a variety of retreats and gatherings that seek to empower, care for, and support leaders in the PCUSA. Each retreat has a specific focus geared toward this intentional support for pastors and lay leaders.
Doctor of Ministry Scholarships — Award $1,000/person to pastors who are pursuing a DMin degree while serving in congregational ministry. Learn more about Doctor of Ministry Scholarships, including how to apply.
Master of Divinity Scholarships — The Foundation has long provided support for full-time students enrolled at one of the ten Presbyterian seminaries through the Apollos Scholarship Program. The Apollos Scholarship has been paused as we evaluate how to most effectively support congregational leadership development. We will not accept applications for 2025.
Small-Church Leadership Grant — The Marilyn A. Jackson Grant provides grants of up to $5,000 to support Presbyterian small-church pastoral leaders, who belong to a racial and/or ethnic minority group.
