Synergos Congregations – 2025 Residency Sites

First Presbyterian Church of Gillette, Wyoming was founded in 1911.  Its current building was built in 1973 and is in the heart of downtown Gillette.  The congregation has 54 members and is currently served by regular pulpit supply.  The church hosts a variety of community programs, including a weekly clothing swap that is housed within the church.  Gillette is located on the “high prairie” between the Black Hills and the Big Horn mountains. 

First Presbyterian Church of Helena, Montana was founded in 1872, 17 years before the territory became a state.  It’s current building has three sections:  the original section built in 1892, the current sanctuary built in 1905, and the last addition in 1995.  The congregation has 90 members and currently has an interim minister.  It participates in several community outreach activities including a Thanksgiving dinner which resumed in 2023 after a break during Covid.  The church is located within a mile of the state capital building.  During the school year, dozens of children cut through the parking lot each day on their way to and from school.  Helena is located mid-way between Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park.
